Made for the LUDUM DARE 44 Compo

I made this for Ludum Dare 44's compo, by myself, in less than nine hours.

I got a late start at about noon on Sunday and worked on it off and on until Game of Thrones came on.
Ludum Dare 44's theme was:
YOUR LIFE IS CURRENCY.

Didn't have time to do sound effects or music, but will go back and add it, and do some other touch-ups post-jam.

Thank you for playing and please vote for it on the Ludum Dare site:

CONTROLS

Left / Right Keys = Move around.  Avoid red things.
Up = "Shoot", which costs a dollar.
Down = "Charge up", and increase your funds.

GAMEPLAYDuring the game, your funds are depleted as time goes on.  At any point if you run out of money, you die.  If you're low on cash you'll have to convert some time into money and "go to work" so charge up your funds with the DOWN key.

As in all games there are enemies that spawn, consider them bills, illnesses, etc., and you have to throw your hard-earned money at the enemy to make them go away before they kill you.

Nobody's perfect, and sometimes you'll miss a payment, and if that happens, things get a little worse for you.  If you miss all the enemies they drop one level lower, and get one level closer - to you.

45,000 people die in the United States every year because they do not have health insurance.  The idea of another sunrise, the idea of another tomorrow, shouldn't be hidden behind a pay wall.  Yet every day in the United States people are forced to stretch out their expensive medications beyond their prescriptions, forced to stop taking their medication altogether, and certainly more often than acceptable, people die, simply because they could not afford the exorbitant cost of fueling the medical and the healthcare industries designed to profit off of their pain.

When I saw that the theme was "Life is Your Currency," I knew I had to do a game inspired by the American Healthcare system.  There was more that I wanted to add to the game but I wasn't able to with the time restraints.  I'll add more in post-jam.
